PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To group the reproducible data previously in a reproduction apparatus. SOLUTION: A format information acquiring section 220 acquires the format information about the recording format of clip data produced by multiplexing video data and audio data. Information about the recording rate or encoding is employed as the format information. A clip data classification section 230 classifies the clip data into a plurality of groups based on the format information thus acquired. A virtual play list creating section 240 creates a virtual play list related to the clip data for each of a plurality of groups thus classified and records the virtual play list on a recording medium 290. A menu screen creating section 250 creates a menu screen for reproducing the clip data base on the virtual play list thus created.
