A combined roller bearing and one-way clutch comprises caged bearing balls 10 engaging outer and inner race rings 7, 8 and sprags 3 positioned between the race rings 7, 8 by webs 2 bent out of end plates 1 which are secured to the bearing cage 9. Curved portions 6 of the end plates 1 are soldered or spot welded to the bearing cage 9 opposite the centre of the bearing balls 10. The sprags 3 may be energized by springs 5 carried on webs 4 or may be permanent magnets with their poles located on a line joining the wedging contact areas between the sprags and the races. |
