摘要 PURPOSE:To provide an electrode capable of increasing efficiency for removing excess moisture. CONSTITUTION:A cell constituting a fuel cell has an electrolytic film 10 formed out of a solid high molecular electrolytic film, a cathode side catalytic reaction layer 12 as well as an anode side catalytic reaction layer 14 adhering to the surface of the film 10, and a cathode 20 as well as an anode 30 adhering to each of the reaction layers 12 and 14. The cathode 20 and the anode 30 are electrodes using the pressed compact of carbon staple as an electrode substrate (thickness: 0.5mm) and have both conductive and gas permeable functions. The cathode 20 is fabricated through processes for mixing, agitating and press forming carbon staple with fine particles of bridged polyacrylate having a high water absorption due to a hydrophilic group (-COO-), and carries the fine particles 22 of the bridged polyacrylic ester dispersed in the substrate. According to this construction, the cathode 20 actively absorbs much water due to the dispersed fine particles 22 of the bridged polyacrylate.
