A combined vaccine against measels and smallpox is prepared by mixing a measles vaccine and a smallpox vaccine and lyophilising the mixtures to give a stable dried vaccine, the quantities of measles virus and smallpox virus in the unmixed vaccines being such that the intermediate mixture contains at least 10 Tissue Culture Infective Dose units of measles virus and 10<SP>2</SP> Plaque Forming Units of smallpox virus per 0.1 ml. the mixture preferably includes a stabiliser and a preservative, (e.g. neomycin sulphate), and may be reconstituted with sterile distilled water prior to use. The mixture may be frozen to -60‹C before lyophilising. |
