1,139,249. Wall shuttering; sheet piling. A. G. NIJHUIS. 1 May, 1967 [29 April, 1966], No. 20134/67. Headings EIH and E1S. Elongate metal plates 1 with longitudinal edge flanges 2, 3 are clamped together by elongate transverse clamps 4, 5 which force the edge flanges together, to form a wall shuttering for concrete walls or sheet piling. The return portions 3 of the edge flanges are acted on by inclined edges 13 of spaced recesses formed in the inner, T-sectioned member 5 of the clamp, and in the outer portion thereof, which comprises two members 4 which are fixed together at their ends, the inner member 5 being slidably arranged between the outer members 4. The clamp may be operated, as shown, by a threaded shaft 15 rotatably fixed to the members 4, and acting on a threaded sleeve 14 with a bifurcated end, pinned at 16 to the member 5 and passing through slots in the outer portion. An alternative threaded shaft and captive nut arrangement (Figs. 8-10) may be employed. Angle-section corner plates 1a and 1b (Fig. 4, not shown) may be used, and an angle-section extension 19, 20 (Fig. 5, not shown) on the edge flanges provides protection for the return flange 3, and allows longitudinally adjacent plates 1 to be pinned together. |
