PURPOSE:To increase thrust by disposing an additional mass, machined integrally with a resonator, at an end part of the resonator where the antinodes of longitudinal and bending oscillations match each other thereby increasing the amplitudes of longitudinal and bending oscillations simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:A pair of electromechanical energy conversion elements 1 are disposed on the surface of a resonator 2. Additional masses 3, each having such a shape as exciting the longitudinal resonant oscillation and bending resonant oscillation simultaneously, are disposed at the opposite ends of the resonator 2 symmetrically with respect to the antinodes of the longitudinal and bending oscillations while projecting integrally from the front and back faces of the resonator 2. High frequency voltages having different phase are then applied to the pair of electromechanical energy conversion elements 1 to generate standing wave elliptical motion in the resonator 2 for moving a driven body 14 relatively. The pair of additional masses 3 arranged symmetrically with respect to the antinodes of oscillation of the resonator 2 increases the amplitudes of the longitudinal and bending oscillations thus increasing the thrust. |
