The reinforcement plates are arranged vertically on edge on the metal base regularly spaced from one another. - The plates are first held in place by tack-welding and then firmly secured by V-groove welding on both sides of each panel at its junction with the base. - Welding is accomplished by mobile welding equipment attached to a carriage on a gantry crane. - Two welding units are provided, one for each side of a panel.
