A fuel oil storage tank with a ventilation pipe has a device for drying incoming air incorporated in this pipe. Specifically, the ventilation pipe contains a small vessel, into which a container of water-absorbent chemicals can be inserted. The objective is to prevent water from entering the oil via the ventilation pipe. Alternatively, the ventilation pipe may be a U-tube, with its bottom curve near the base of the oil tank, and containing a sump for collection of condensed water.
