[Also in Division C2] Photographic anti-foggants comprise N, N- disubstituted aminomethylthiocarboxylic acids having the formula: or or an ester or salt thereof, wherein A is a tertiary amino radical in which the nitrogen may be part of a heterocyclic ring, Z is an aliphatic carbon chain which may be substituted, e.g. by alkyl, aryl, carboxy or carboxyalkyl groups, and X is a ditertiary amino radical, preferably a piperazine ring. The anti-foggants may be incorporated in the emulsion, either before or after an after-ripening stage, or in a layer contiguous thereto, or may be added to the developer. |
