An optically brightened polyester resin is derived from a saturated dicarboxylic acid or a lower alkyl ester thereof with 1-6 C atoms per group, an aliphatic glycol and less than 10 mole per cent based on the acid or ester of 2,5 - dimethoxycinnamic acid or an alkyl ester thereof with 1-6 carbon atoms per alkyl radical, which may be added at any time during the preparation of the polyester. In the examples the polyesters are derived from dimethyl terephthalate ethylene glycol, and either methyl- 2,5 - dimethoxycinnamate or 2,5 - dimethoxycinnamic acid.</p> |
