Warp tensioner - using transfer of spheres between 2 chambers of drum

Tensioner consists of a drum which has 2 concentric inner chambers, and a hinged flap between the inner and outer. In the outer chamber are vanes set at an angle and also many round metal balls. As the beam rotates the balls move freely in the outside chamber. As the warp decreases, the flap is opened, and some balls are admitted into the inner chamber, thus changing the weight acting on the warp. The device acts directly on to a warp beam, and is connected to the warp beam shaft via gears.
