The machine which forms the subject of the invention consists of a chassis 1 carrying, on one side, a platform for an operator within whose reach there are a plate 5 supporting the turfs 7 and, farther towards the rear, a second platform 8, whilst on the left of the chassis 1 there is positioned a plate carrying a conveyor belt 13 in a horizontal plane, the rear end of which is juxtaposed with an inclined chute 14 which is extended by two conveyor belts enclosed in a casing 16. The said casing 16 carries, at its lower end, a mechanical cutter 22 and a sprinkler 18. <IMAGE>
