PURPOSE: An IPC cell exchange device and method of an ATM is provided to improve network efficiency by filtering a virtual channel ID of a cell introduced from a processor link in a CDMA and routing a cell having the ID of its own CDMA within the CDMA without passing through a switch network. CONSTITUTION: An IPC cell exchange device of an ATM includes the following units. A plurality of processors(102,104,106,108,...) handles processing within an exchange. A CDMA(110) performs multiplexing and demultiplexing of a cell which is a message transceived between asynchronous transfer modes, routes the position of a trunk transmitting the cell, and if the cell is an outgoing cell, transmits the cell to a switch network and transmits the same to the processor(102,104,106,108,...) under control. A plurality of receiving TAXIs(112,114,116,118,...) serve as a path for receiving an incoming cell from each of the plurality of processors(102,104,106,108,...) within the CDMA(110).
