PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conjugate fiber exhibiting high tenacity and high elasticity, and further scarcely generating fibrillation and sheath-core separation, and to provide a mesh cloth thereof. SOLUTION: This conjugate fiber comprises a sheath-core conjugate fiber which is composed of a sheath component having a 'sea-island' structure (continuous phase, disperse phase structure) and a core component comprising a melt- anisotropic aromatic polyester (A polymer), wherein the sheath component is contained in a ratio of 0.2-0.7, the continuous phase composing the sheath component comprises a polyethylene naphthalenedicarboxylate (B polymer) having an inherent viscosity [η] of >=0.6 dl/g, the disperse phase composing the sheath component comprises another melt-anisotropic aromatic polyester (C polymer), and the disperse phase is contained in the sheath component in a ratio of 0.02-0.25.
