PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To position focus servo pulling in a mirror finished surface area where the grooves of an optical disk stamper do not exist. SOLUTION: This optical disk stamper testing device having a means 13 for making an optical pickup 11 perform up-and-down movement almost vertically with respect to an optical disk stamper surface, a means 12 for moving the optical pickup 11 almost horizontally, a means for performing focus servo of an object lens over the optical disk stamper surface and a means for performing tracking servo of a spiral groove is used to position the focus pulling of the optical pickup 11 by making the optical pickup 11 come close to the optical disk stamper 10 surface with means 13 for making the optical pickup 11 perform up-and-down movement after positioning the optical pickup 11 over a mirror finished surface of the optical disk stamper surface where the spiral groove is not formed with the means 12 for moving the optical pickup 11 horizontally and stopping the optical pickup 11 at the time when a summation signal RF from an optical detector having two or more-division light detection areas becomes a prescribed value.
