PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain light shielding patterns which do not bring about a change in light shielding characteristics even if relative misalignment occurs in the superposed positions of the respective light shielding patterns in the case the light shielding patterns of luminance regulating means used for a direct backlight are made double and the luminance is adjusted. SOLUTION: Vertical patterns juxtaposed with, for example, convex lens shapes, are formed as the one-side light shielding patterns 10 on, for example, a lighting curtain 8 side and, for example, stripe-like horizontal patterns are formed as the other-side light shielding patterns on a light diffusing plate side.
