PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel having improved emission efficiency with low voltage by increasing the surface discharge lines of electrodes relating to sustainment discharge. SOLUTION: The plasm display panel comprises a first substrate 1 and a second substrate 3, barrier ribs 13 defining a plurality of discharge cells 15, a phosphor layer 17, address electrodes 5 formed on the first substrate 1, a first electrode 7 and a second electrode 9 formed on the second substrate 3 extending to the direction of crossing the address electrodes and arranged on both sides of each discharge cell 15 in the first direction, and a third electrode 11 arranged between the first electrode 7 and the second electrode 9. The first electrode 7 and the second electrode 9 have transparent electrodes 7a, 9a, respectively, protruded from both side ends of a region opposed to the discharge cell 15 toward the center of the discharge cell 15. The transparent electrodes 7a, 9a form the surface discharge line forming a discharge gap in the discharge cell 15 at a preset angle to a first direction, thus improving the emission efficiency with low voltage.
