DRIVING SYSTEM AND DRIVING METHOD FOR FLUORESCENT LAMP, AND BACKLIGHT UNIT HAVING THE SAME

A system and a method for driving a fluorescent lamp and a backlight unit are provided to minimize energy loss by reducing the reactive power based on the displacement current of a fluorescent lamp and to simplify system configuration by using less components in designing an energy recovery circuit. A system for driving a fluorescent lamp comprises a first switch part(SW1), an energy storage, an inductor(L), and a second switch part(SW2). The first switch part supplies input voltage to the fluorescent lamp in the form of a pulse waveform. The energy storage, such as a capacitor, collects and stores the energy which is charged during the driving of the fluorescent lamp. The inductor recovers or recycles energy through resonance with the fluorescent lamp. The second switch part controls the flow of energy by the inductor.
