A liquid crystal display device according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: a first substrate containing a display area displaying images and a peripheral area surrounding the display area; a data line which is placed on the first substrate of the display area and contains a source electrode; a first gate insulating film placed on an area excepting an area where the data line is placed on the first substrate; a semiconductor layer placed on the source electrode; a drain electrode placed on the semiconductor layer; a gate line which is placed on the first gate insulating film of the display area, and contains a gate line; and a second gate insulating film placed between the gate electrode on the first gate insulating film and the semiconductor layer. The gate line and the data line are extended in the same direction.
