The fixed jaws 14 of a gripper Axminster loom are mounted on a shaft 10 and the movable jaws 16 are pivoted at 17 on the fixed jaws and are actuated by a shaft 21 of generally C-shaped cross-section mounted within the shaft 10 so that rotation of the shaft 21 relative to the shaft 10 acts on the tail ends 20 of the movable jaws 16 to open or close them against the action of springs. It is stated that the C-shaped actuating shaft 21 may encircle the main gripper shaft 10 instead of being mounted within it. |
