A gauze fabric for a diaper comprises a multi-ply body with single-ply selvages 2 along the longitudinal edges and a single-ply lateral portions 11 with an end count of 60 to 140 and a fill count of 30 to 80. The lateral edges before cutting are of width from 2 to 3 inches. The end count is preferably 32 to 48 and the fill count 28 to 45 in the lateral edges. The fabric is preferably two-ply with the layers interwoven at the edges to form the single-ply portions. Single-ply reinforcing strips 3 are also provided. |
