The closure (1) for a container has a cylindrical body (2) with an inner end wall (6). This inner wall has an opening (7) which serves as a spout and is sealed by a bung (5) formed integrally with the outer cover (4). This outer cover is attached to the body by a flexible hinge (3). The inner end wall has a vertically projecting elastic tongue (14) which presses against a tongue (17), which projects downwards from the outer cover, and holds the cover in its closed position. When the cover is swung open to a vertical position, the tip of the body tongue presses against the tip of the outer cover tongue, and holds the cover in the open position.
