摘要 The IC engine has a crankshaft (2) which is mounted in a housing. The crankshaft (2) passes through the central hole in a non-rotating gearwheel (3) which is fixed to the housing. The crankshaft carries a disc (4) which has four equally spaced axially projecting lugs (19,20,21,22). These lugs (19,20,21,22) form bearings for rotating masses 9-12 which rotate about axes (5,6,7,8) which lie in a common plane which is at right angles to the crankshaft axis. Each mass (9,10,11,12) has an attached gearwheel (14,15,16,17) with helical teeth which mesh with the helical teeth of the fixed gear (3). The axis of each mass is eccentric to its centre of gravity. As the crankshaft (2) rotates each mass rotates about its own axis (5,6,7,8) so that the moment of inertia of the crankshaft is continously changing and so suppresses torsional oscillations.
