PURPOSE:To provide the observer's side electrode plate of a reflection type active matrix liquid crystal display device which is simple in production stages and enables screen display at a wide visual field angle regardless of the position of an external light source. CONSTITUTION:This observer's side electrode plate has a glass substrate 11, a light scattering layer 12 disposed thereon and transparent electrodes 13 disposed to coat this light scattering layer 12. The essential components of the light scattering layer 12 are composed of a transparent resin and particulates which are dispersed in this resin and vary in their refractive indices. The incident external light on the observer's side electrode plate is scattered by the light scattering layer 12 and is reflected by a rear surface electrode plate arranged to face the observer's side electrode plate; thereafter, the light is scattered again by the light scattering layer 12 and is emitted and, therefore, the visualy angle thereof is widened. Then, there is no need for subjecting the rear surface electrode plate to light scattering treatment and, therefore, the production stages for the reflection type liquid crystal display device are simplified and the production efficiency and yield are greatly improved. |
