The expansible liquid rubber combines for its nature the strong elasticity and tachiness of natural or synthetic rubber, with the water contact expansibility of cellulose derivatives to improve its leak-proof sealing effect when applied to the connections of pipes. The liquid rubber is prepared by adding to the main constituent of known rubber a water contact expansion agent such as carboxy methyl cellulose 15 parts(in weight), sodium casein 5 parts, or tragacanth gum 5 parts, for uniform distribution to form into a gum plate and dissolving uniformly in an aromatic organic solvent 120 parts of toluene or others.
