Data retention method for electronic telephone book

The data retention method involves using several data locations (D) with individual data objects (DO). The data objects have telephone number fields for holding telephone numbers of varying format. The telephone fields of the individual data locations are scanned in sequence, with analysis of the telephone numbers for conversion into an automatic selection format, before re-writing the converted telephone numbers into the corresponding telephone number fields.
