PURPOSE: To obtain a power converter in which the main circuitry can be recovered quickly from failure by a constitution wherein the main circuitry comprises two main circuits separated from each other and a switch is turned when a failure is detected in the main circuit during operation. CONSTITUTION: Switches 11, 12 are normally turned to the side of an invertor main circuit 2A when it is sound and power is fed thereto under control of a controller 3. Upon failure of the invertor main circuit 2A, the switches 11, 12 are turned immediately through the controller 3 to feed a load with power from an invertor main circuit B thus sustaining operation of the load. Similarly, a switching is made to the invertor main circuit 2A side upon failure of an invertor main circuit 2B. Consequently, a switching can be made quickly to an auxiliary main circuit upon failure of a main circuit which may cause failure of a power converter at high possibility and thereby the power converter can be operated continuously. |
