<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid polymer fuel cell electrode capable of reducing a gas diffusion layer thickness and having a porous catalyst layer, to provide a membrane electrode assembly, and to provide a fuel. <P>SOLUTION: A solid polymer fuel cell electrode has a carbon fiber woven cloth produced by carbonizing a fiber woven cloth of silkworm filaments. The solid polymer fuel cell electrode also employs a carbonized material having a fine pores capacity from 10 mm<SP>3</SP>/g to 50 mm<SP>3</SP>/g and supports a catalyst by a vapor deposition method so that it can have a mass activity from 1,000 A/g to 3,000 A/g and a volume power density from 10 mW/cm<SP>3</SP>to 30 mW/cm<SP>3</SP>. A membrane electrode assembly comprises this electrode, and the solid polymer fuel cell comprises this membrane electrode assembly. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
