PREVENTING OR THERAPEUTIC AGENT FOR ALZHEIMER DISEASE AND METHOD FOR SCREENING THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain a preventing or a therapeutic agent for Alzheimer disease utilizing tau protein kinase I (TPKI) and a method for screening the preventing or therapeutic agent utilizing amyloid beta protein. CONSTITUTION:The preventing or therapeutic agent for Alzheimer disease contains a substance having inhibiting action on TPKI or an anti-sense oligonucleotide capable of hybridizing with DNA or mRNA of the TPKI as an active ingredient. The substance having the inhibiting action on the TPKI has action on the inhibition of cell death of a neuron in incubating the substance with the neuron and amyloid beta protein. The preventing or therapeutic agent is capable of suppressing the phosphorylating activity of the TPKI with the amyloid beta protein and inhibiting the cell death of a cerebral neuron. Thereby, the effectiveness of a medicine presumed to be effectively usable as the preventing or therapeutic agent for Alzheimer disease is judged by incubating the medicine with the neuron and amyloid beta protein based on whether the cell death of the neuron is inhibited or not.
