PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone system 10 for confirming a telephone number assigned to each of a plurality of telephones 40, using simple operations. SOLUTION: A number confirming device 30 transmits a telephone number assigned to each telephone 40 and associates a telephone number transmitted immediately before with a telephone 40, returning a response that the telephone 40 confirms the transmitted telephone number as the own telephone number to store them in a number management table storage section 31. The number confirming device 30 transmits a telephone number management table storing the telephone number in association with the identification information of each telephone 40 to a main device 20, when the confirmation of the telephone number is completed. The main device 20 refers to the telephone number management table and a call designating the telephone number of the callee telephone 40 is received by the telephone 40, corresponding to the telephone number.
