A portable terminal and a PTT(Push To Talk) communications method for easily progressing point-to-point communications of a specific portable terminal during PTT group communication are provided to perform point-to-point communications in a PTT group communication mode. A key input unit(105) comprises a PTT button(107). A controller(111) acquires a symbol within a group member on PTT group communications in a PTT group communications mode. A PTT module(113) selects a specific symbol between the given symbol and the specific symbol. The portable terminal corresponding to the selected symbol performs communication. The controller assigns number to the group member in the PTT group communications mode. The controller assigns a number to the group member. The PTT module performs point-to-point communications with the portable terminal corresponding to the inputted number.
