Eggs are oriented and conveyed by the interaction between a fixed channel member 34 and an outer channel member 36 which is secured to a carrier 70 having a cyclic movement. As shown, this movement is provided by pins 64 carried by rotating members 60. The channels may be closed at the downstream end by a member (72), (Fig. 10, not shown), against which the eggs progressively back up, thereby to be forced into a desired vertical position. Alternatively, the leading egg may be detected by a sensor 82 (Fig. 8) which activates a discharge member 86. |
