Copper (II) oxalates is heated to 140 degrees C - 250 degrees C (esp. 160 degrees C - 200 degrees C), pref. for 0.1 - 15 hrs., in a liquid medium which contains acetic acid, e.g. to regenerate the catalyst medium used to produce vinyl acetate from ethylene and oxygen (the regeneration being carried out in the absence of oxygen and ethylene). The catalyst medium contains up to 20% water, acetic acid, a Pd catalyst and a copper salt (cuprous/cupric) redox system.
|
