[Also in Division H1] Photo-conductive toner powder is produced by applying ZnO, CdS, or Se as a vapour, solution, melt or disposed in a fluid to form an adherent coating on particles of copoly vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate, poly methyl/ ethyl methacrylate, or copoly styrene-methyl methacrylate. In one embodiment ZnO particles and trichloroethylene are heated to 120‹C. dispersed in air and fed to a fluidized bed of resin particles. The trichloroethylene vapour swells the resin particles and aids adhesion of the zinc oxide. In other embodiments ZnO or CdS is dispersed in a silicone resin in an organic solvent together with the optional additives methyl ethyl betoxine, Cu stearate and silica and the dispersion applied to the resin particles. |
