Chlorine moncfluoride is prepared by mixing chloride, liquid hydrogen fluoride and antimony pentafluoride at from - 70‹ to - 20‹ C., thus forming a mixture containing ClSbF 6 , then fractionally distilling this mixture to obtain chlorine monofluoride. By mixing C1F with antimony pentafluoride or optionally HF, cooling a vacuum distilling off excess C1F below - 20‹ C., ClSbF 6 may be obtained. Examples describe the preparation of (a) chlorine monofluoride and (b) ClSbF 6 . |
