<p>1287973 Coated flexible sheet material PENWALT CORP 23 March 1970 [1 April 1969] 13819/70 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions B5 C3 Dl and D2] A wrapping for ferrous metal articles to inhibit corrosion when buried in the soil comprises a flexible wrapping material coated with an inhibitor composition comprising calcium arsenate. The wrapping may be paper, of flexible plastics film such as plasticised polyvinyl chloride or polyolefins such as polyethylene or polypropylene. The calcium arsenate may be blended and applied as a coating on to one or both sides of the flexible material, combined with a pigment or barrier coating material such as clay, talc, calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate, silica, casein, starches, synthetic rubber latex, acrylic resins, polyvinyl acetate, paraffin wax, polyethylene, ethylenevinyl acetate copolymer and cellulose derivatives. In a preferred embodiment the calcium arsenate composition contains 0.1 to 2 parts of surface active agent and/or 0.5 to 100 parts of a polyphosphate detergent per 100 parts of calcium arsenate. Numerous suitable polyphosphate detergents are listed.</p> |
