ENDOGLUCANASES AND CELLULASE PREPARATIONS CONTAINING THE SAME

Enzymes having a high endoglucanase activity and showing a high activity under alkaline conditions and genes thereof. These enzymes have the following characteristics: a) showing an endoglucanase activity; and b) being capable of completely eliminating purified cellulose down at a concentration of 1 mg protein/l or less. The above enzymes having the endoglucanase activity involve proteins containing the amino acid sequences represented by SEQ ID NOS: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11, modifications of these proteins showing the endoglucanase activity and homologs thereof.
