<p>Various preparations for treating or relieving pain in a patient are disclosed wherein preparations containing caesium ions, preferably in the form of caesium chloride, and preferably also magnesium ions in the form of magnesium sulphate, are administered externally or internally to the patient. In one preferred embodiment a topical preparation is provided which consists of strips of microporous material (A) on each side of a plastics backing layer (B) impregnated with an aqueous solution containing caesium chloride and magnesium sulphate. In an alternative embodiment a cream preparation containing caesium chloride and magnesium sulphate is provided for external application to the patient.</p> |
