Continuous separation of solids from liquid or gaseous media is achieved with apparatus comprising a rotating disc which is fitted with a series of satellite wheels near its outer edge. Each satellite spins about a hub and carries a number of curved radial, hollow shovels whose inner surfaces and floors are perforated to allow entry and exit of the treated substance. The latter is supplied by a spray mounted between two deflector plates near the periphery. A separate nozzle is provided for a dilutant. Uses are e.g. in sugar processing, tomato processing etc. |
