The slag which is produced as a fluid residue of combustion is cast and fragmented after solidification. The slag is used in road construction after creation of a porous structure by addition of a second material e.g. flue dust, limestone dust, during cooling. The added material facilitates controlled cooling and creation of the desired porous structure which will form the frost protection layer.
