1512224 Fluid-pressure brake actuators WABCO WESTINGHOUSE GmbH 28 Oct 1975 [8 March 1975] 44249/75 Heading F1D Brake rings 9, 10, Fig. 1, are urged apart by fluid-pressure supplied through a line 20 to a chamber 18 between an annular piston 17 and an annular cylinder 16, spring means 22 being provided to apply the brakes for parking when pressure is released from inter-connected chambers 24a, 24b, by a valve 28. Fig. 2 shows an embodiment in which air-pressure is supplied to chambers 18a, 18b through a line 20 to urge an annular piston 29 and cylinder 16 apart to effect service braking. To apply the parking brake by means of springs 22 compressed air is released from chambers 18a, 18b. In Fig. 3, a service brake piston 29 and a parking brake piston 17 occupy separate chambers separated by a wall 30. Figs. 4, 5, (not shown) illustrate embodiments which operate in the same way as the embodiment shown in Fig. 1. |
