Composite panels for insulation of timber-framed structures - involving cement-bonded particle board, fibrous cement sheets and fibre coated polystyrene

Composite panels for thermal and acoustic insulation of a timber-frame structure have a core comprising a layer of cement-bonded wood particle board bonded to either a layer of glass fibres or a layer of polystyrene covered on both faces with cement-bonded fibres. The outside is covered with painted plywood, and with a dry (plasterboard) panelling on the inside. Opt. 3 cm deep air-space is trapped between the coated polystyrene and the internal panelling. Esp. claims panels having a 0.60 m x 1.20 m modular size weighing 180 kg per panel. Specifically claims structures involving 50 mm thick layers of Fibralith (RTM) fibrocement and Fibrastyrene (RTM) fibrocement-coated polystyrene 65 mm thick.
