Non-destructive analytical detection and/or quantification of viruses or virus particles (A) in a liq. sample matrix contg. other components (esp. proteins, nucleotides and/or other viruses) comprises: (1) capillary electrophoresis to separate (A) from proteins and/or nucleotides; (2) recording of the pertinent electropherogram, and (3) identifying those fractions correlated with (A) or viral peaks by spectral evaluation based on characteristic maxima.
