PURPOSE:To prevent a toner from being adhered to a ground part at the time of PPC plate making and prevent ground contamination in printing, by a method wherein a coating liquid for forming an image-receiving layer comprising a binder, a pigment and a water-resisting agent as main constituents is applied to a base, and while the applied liquid is incompletely dried, a roll having a grained surface is pressed against the surface thereof to finely grain the surface of the image-receiving layer. CONSTITUTION:The surface of an image-receiving layer is grained by a method wherein a coating liquid for forming the layer is applied, and while the applied liquid is incompletely dried and has a water content 8-10%, a roll having a surface grained to a surface roughness of 50-500mum is pressed against the surface thereof. The image-receiving layer comprises a water-soluble binder, an inorganic pigment and a water-resisting agent as main constituents. The binder is a water-soluble resin such as PVA, starch, CMC, casein, gelatine, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, a vinyl acetate-chrotonic acid copolymer and a styrene-maleic acid copolymer. The water-resisting agent may be glyoxal, a precondensate of an aminoplast such as a melamine or urea-formaldehyde resin, a methylolated polyamide resin, a polyamide-polyamine- epichlorohydrin adduct, a polyamide-epichrorohydrin resin or the like. The inorganic pigment is preferably zinc oxide.
