This device directly produces multicolour printing blocks from a supplied television signal without requiring colour photographs. A video signal is read out of a frame buffer (15) synchronously with the scanning rate of a commercially available masking device (32). The video signal read out is split by means of a colour decoder (29) into three primary-colour signals which, in turn, are converted into four colour printing signals by a converter (30). These signals are finally supplied by a correction circuit (31) to the masking device (32) which generates the printing blocks. <IMAGE>
