The overload safety device for the adjustable limiting of the torque which can be transmitted from a drive to the roller of a roller shutter, a blind or an awning consists of two disc-shaped coupling members (4, 8) with front-side toothing, which bear against one another coaxially under spring force. The toothing can have unequal tooth profile angles, in order that torques of different sizes can be transmitted according to the direction of rotation. With the asymmetrical tooth pitch, the noise formation and the wear can be kept extremely low. <IMAGE>
