The method measures the oxygen concentration and the oxygen diffusion coefficient of a biological tissue of irregular transport properties and a oxygen concentration gradient by using a double barreled electrode. The method measures the oxygen concentration in the barrel with a recess and the oxygen diffusion coefficient in the barrel without the recess by detecting a current transient characteristics. The ratio of L(length)/d(diameter) of the electrode with the recess is 5-10. The method has an advantage of not being affected by an ambient irregular oxygen diffusion coefficient, and making possible an in situ online measurement.
