A computer controlled system for the prepn. and supply of animal fodder to the mangers in large animal farm stables has a ring main which is pre-filled with water. Pumps supply the mixed fodder to the ring main to replace the water in an intermediate container which is cut off when the fodder column has reached the branch to the last manger. The intermediate containers is cut off and the mangers are filled. The contacts of the intermediate container are used to displace the remainder of the fodder until the ring main is again filled with water.
