A wet-rotor hydronic heating/cooling circulator in which a check valve (30) is positioned at the inlet eye (16) of the pump impeller (18), where it can easily be serviced by removing the circulator motor (10) and impeller (18). The check valve (30) is preferably in the form of a valve subassembly (32) that is removably inserted into an opening at the eye (16).
