PURPOSE: A portable inquiry device is provided to increase the accuracy of inquiry by enabling an examiner to rapidly scan and refer a resident card or a driver license of an examinee through a wireless communication network, and displaying data referred to a display of an inquiry device. CONSTITUTION: A scanning device(10) is divided into a body(11) and a cover(12) combined with a hinge. A character or a picture scanned by the scanning device(10) is transmitted to a host computer through a wireless communication network. Data referred through a database constructed in the host computer are transmitted to the scanning device(10) through the wireless communication network. In addition, the data are displayed to a display. Therefore, an examiner rapidly searches and refers a serial number or a picture of a resident card or a driver license of an examinee.
